AOL Instant Messenger

Instant messenging is one of the hottest new trends on the internet.  IM services provide one on one, real-time conversation ability to any two users anywhere on the internet.  AOL's Instant Messenger is an enhanced version of their Buddy List feature and is accessible to any internet user, not just AOL members.  This service is a convenient way to have direct contact with your family, friends, and customers.  Many businesses also use this application for interoffice communication as it is faster and more convenient than phone calls or email.

Your Buddy List resides on your desktop and notifies you when users on your list log on to the service.  One click opens a chat window with as many users as you'd like to talk to at one time.  AOL's IM service does not currently allow for more than 2 people to converse, and it does not allow file transfer.
